ParentMap post – Myths (and truths!) about Concussions

Screen Shot 2013-08-21 at 12.17.56 PMTis’ the season for official football and other sports practices at Washington high schools. Here is a post I wrote for ParentMap correcting some misinformation we’ve grown up with regarding concussions, including that a person has to be knocked out to have suffered a concussion, and that symptoms appear immediately. Both are wrong.

It’s so important for all adults on the sidelines and in the stands to know some of the symptoms, but do not to bear the burden of diagnosing… leave that to the medical pros!
